ImageOut's Commitment to Anti-Racism
ImageOut’s mission is to present LGBTQ arts and cultural experiences showcasing films, other creative works and artists to promote awareness, foster dialogue and build community. We stand for freedom of expression, accessibility, diversity, artistic quality, and are dedicated to cultivating a safe space for the LGBTQ community. We support equality. We defend the right for people to protest. We believe that law enforcement can do better, and we can do better. We offer our solidarity.
While we are participating in this year’s ImageOut Film Festival virtually, we acknowledge the importance of the land, which we all call home. We respectfully acknowledge that the ImageOut office sits on the ancestral and unceded territory of the O-non-dowa-gah, (pronounced: Oh-n'own-dough-wahgah) or "the people of the Great Hill.” In English, they are known as the Seneca people, “the keeper of the western door.” They have stewarded this land through generations, and we pay respect to their elders past and present. #HonorNativeLand
ImageOut promises to be an active partner in the fight against racism, and we ask you to hold us accountable. If you see how we can do better, we ask you to reach out to any member of the ImageOut Board. For more information, visit www.imageout.org.
